Tour Itinerary

Day 1 - Kathgodam to Lohajung

The pickup place is Kathgodam railway station early in the morning and drive Lohagang in a taxi which is approximately 8 hours drive
The stunning views of Bheemtal, Almora Trishul, Maiktoli, Nanda Devi, Ghori Parvat, Nanda Khat, Hathi Parvat, and Ghori Parvat. Take a small halt at Kausani for refreshments and click some memories with your camera.
Lohajung is the place where Goddess Parvati had a jung (fight) with the demon Lohasur. Literally translated, Lohajung means ‘Fight with Lohasur’. Our Roopkund trek base Lohajung is essentially transit point with a local bazaar and few lodges. Lohajung has one GMVN tourist lodge (TRH), one panchayat Tourist Rest House and 3/4 private hotels. All the major mobile networks have connectivity here. Night stay in Tourist Rest House/Lodge.

Day 02: Lohargunj to Didna Village

The actual trek begins today. After a good home prepared breakfast, the walk starts on the level ground with slight ascent on the jeep road; the road goes till the village of Wan. An hour and a half walk on the flat surface will take you to Kulling, which is located at a distance of around 6km form Lohajung. Kulling is a peaceful village in the district of Garhwal, with a small pool of the population; it is filled with the beauties of nature. Exotic birds can be spotted very easily; the air feels crisp and fresh. After a break at Kulling, you take a right turn and gradually descend towards the village. At the start, you will notice a narrow concrete plain which cuts through houses and fields and takes you to a small stream. This small stream is fed by Neel Ganga. You descend further till you reach the bed of Neel Ganga. Go ahead and cross the cemented bridge and then start climbing the ridge on the right side of the bridge. The road ahead is moderately steep and ends at the village of Didna, situated at an altitude of 2450mts, 8000ft. The trail encompasses evergreen alpine forests and trees which are huge in size. After a climb of around two hours, you reach the top of the ridge; the view ahead is magnificent. It is surprising to find huge open lands at such a high altitude on the lap of the mountains. There are two villages very near to each other Didna and Kuling, basically they host the same type of people and trekkers. The first village is habited during the summer and monsoon months while the second one is popular during winter. The days trek is over at around 3pm, after which a hot lunch is enjoyed. Total distance covered during the day is approximately around 10kms, and the night is spent in a traditional guest house

Day 3 - Didina village To bedni bugyal via Ali bugyal

Have your breakfast in Ghairoli Patal and start your trek to Bedni Bugyal, today you will go through the village of Ali Bugyal, this village is at an altitude of 3410m.Ali Bugyal is visible from Didna as it is on the top of the mountain.You have to climb the mountain to reach Ali Bugyal, the trail is not steep, but it is slightly upwards, on the way there are shepherd huts, known as Tolpani.Now the other climb is steep, but it takes you through picturesque places, there are trees of Oak, Birch, and Rhododendrons only these trees grow there, on the way you can see local people with their sheep, you can communicate with them.
During the spring season the valley gets more beautiful with exotic views blooming flowers make this valley look divine.
You will see the receding treeline and plain grasslands after some hours of the climb the Ali Bugyal unfolds in front of you, it has got fascinating views, there is inherent beauty in this place.In the month of summer, you can see some beautiful white horses and cows grazing the fields, the fields are all covered by grass and flowers.From here you can spot the tallest mountain peaks Mrigthuni and Mt. Trishul, the views are the main attention seeker.Cross the soothing meadows and trek for more half an hour to reach Bedni, there is our campsite where we will set up our tents.Have your lunch intents and then visit Bedni Kund which is a temple nearby.Garhwal Himalayan ranges are also visible from here if the weather is clear. Dinner and overnight stay in tents

Day 4: Ali bugyal to Patar Nachuni

Today you will hike a short distance due to acclimatisation purpose. From today onward the oxygen starts reducing so we spend more nights before reaching the higher altitude. A short and easy walk takes us to Patar Nachuni (~ 3750m/12300ft). Total distance is 5 Km and may take 3 hours. We start by walking on the Bugyal and climb for half an hour to take the trail which is coming from Ali Bugyal. From here onward the road is almost flat till we reach Ghora Lautani. The road splits and we take the trail which goes to the right. Walking an hour on level ground we are at Patar Nachoni. The green fibre huts of the Forest Department is on the left hand side of the trail while the beautiful camping ground is around 200 feet down on the meadow situated in the right. On a clear day the view of Mrigthuni range is magnificent form this place. There is a small shop run by a local in season time inside one of the green hut. It offers basics like tea/coffee, noodles and biscuits. We camp for the night

Day 5; Patar Nachuni to Bhagwabasa

Reach Camp site by lunch. Patar Nachauni to Kalu Vinayak Tempel(first 1 km is gradual ascent and rest 1.5 km is steep ascent). Kalu Vinayak to Bhagwabasa (gradual descent 1.5 km, become tricky in may and June ). There will be snow on the trail in the month of may and june and in sep and oct it will be a rocky trail. Today trek start towards Baguwabasa, 6 km from Patternachaniya (4-5 hours) Patter means Stone & Nauchniya means dancer, believed that dancers converted into stone because of curse of Goddess Nanda. After breakfast we climb to Kailawa Vinayak top, tough ascend about 3.5 km. from Kalwa Vinayak view is unique Himalayan range peaks, Rivers, Waterfalls. After having lunch trek will start to Bhagwabasa (2 km).

Day 6 - Bhagwabasa To Roopkund And Return Patarnachaaniya

Early morning we will provide hot tea or coffee then we will leave for Roopkund with packed breakfast because in the morning you can have a clear view of the mountains and later they get covered by the clouds.Today trek to Roopkund is difficult ascending and 400 meters to Junargali Dhar Top summit (5029 meters).Roopkund is a glacial lake at high altitude also known as “Mystery Lake” because the human skeletons.from ancient times are found here and can be seen inside the lake when the ice melts.You can spot those skeleton on the edge of the lake, you will be lucky enough if you spot them.After a steep climb, you will see Nanda Devi temple visit that temple from there you can get scenic views,click pictures spend time there and if the weather is good you can visit Junargali Top which is (16,700 feet) when you reach top it is very windy there,you will be amazed while standing at Junargali top, the sense of confidence you will feel would be one of the best feeling.Now return to Patar Nachauni you have to go through Bhagwabhasa the descend is more difficult because while ascending trail was steep and it the trail becomes thrilling while coming down,Follow the same trail go to a cave-like structure which is known as Bhagwabhasa, descend and you will reach Patthar Nachauni your campsite.Spend your time in peace and relax your body and mind. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 7 : Patar Nachauni to Lohajung via Bedni and Wan and back to Lohajung

Today is a long way descending till Wan. From the camping ground a small climb takes us on the main trail. Now we follow the same path back. This feels like a cakewalk after the strenuous day before. We continue our trail back to Ghora Lautani and then to Bedni Bugiyal. After reaching Bedni camping ground we take the trail on the right and is different from the route by which we reached Bedni. Now we go down on the Bugiyal while we see the green fibre huts on our right. After going down for a while the road splits. We take the right hand side trail which goes down and slowly we enter into the tree line again. In few places the gradient down is steep and goes through the forest all the way. Avoid taking the shortcuts as it may hurt your knees. After descending for an hour we reach an opening inside the forest and called Gahroli Patal. We continue going down till we reach the river bed of Neel Ganga. From here we climb to reach the top of the Wan Village which is called Ran ka Dhar. Now we enter into the village of Wan and continue to descend. The village is stretched on both sides of the mountain and indeed huge comparing to normal Himalayan villages. Finally we reach the road head to take the Jeep. Total distance is 17 Km and takes around 7/8 hours. It is around an hour from Wan to Lohajung by car and the road road is bumpy at places. Enjoy the evening at Lohajung while sharing the fresh memories of the trek. Night stay in Tourist rest house/Lodge.

Day 08: Loharjung to kathgodam

Wake up early in the morning; have a nice cup of tea and an awesome hillside breakfast. Today you will leave for Lohargunj, along with all the beautiful and unforgettable memories pack your own stuffs and luggage. Your cab will drop you at the Kathgodam railway station. The car journey will take something around 10 hours, and do make sure that you are carrying mint and tablets which prevent nausea. From Kathgodam railway station, you will find trains to various locations. Board your respective train and take along a healthy experience with memories that will never fade away.
